Watch Description
https://www.ethoswatches.com/the-watch-guide/oris-bc3-day-date/
The model name BC refers to the Big Crown, specifically designed to be operated while wearing flying gloves, and is a nod to the models made in WWII that needed to be set/operated without aircrew removing their gloves (heating was a luxury not extended to military aircraft, and operating thousands of feet above the earth for extended periods the aircraft interiors would be barely above freezing).
The BC3 line usually features a satin finished stainless steel three hand 42mm model, although a 42mm chronograph (674 7511 41 64, Caliber 674, ETA7750) was available, and can still be found on auction sites from time to time.
Traditionally, (since the model was released in 2000) the day and date windows have been located opposite each other at the 12 and 6 o’clock positions on the dial, something of an Oris signature, but new models now have the two displays on top of each other in a ‘T’ shaped window.

A.I. Watch Review:
# Oris Automatic BC3 Day Date Review by A.I. WatchMetrics
## Watch Summary
The Oris Automatic BC3 Day Date is a robust pilot-style aviation watch featuring a clean black dial with luminous Arabic numerals, a day-date window at 6 o'clock, and a stainless steel case designed for everyday wear by enthusiasts who appreciate reliable Swiss engineering; targeted at adventure seekers and casual professionals, it stands out with its anti-reflective sapphire crystal and quick-set day function, powered by the automatic Oris Caliber 735 (based on Sellita SW220-1) with a 38-hour power reserve.
## Overall Watch Rating: 6.5/10.0
**Brand Metric (7.5/10.0)** - Oris earns a solid entry-level luxury score for its independent Swiss heritage and accessible quality, comparable to brands like Tudor in prestige without the ultra-premium pricing.
**History & Innovation Metric (6.8/10.0)** - With over a century of watchmaking since 1904 and innovations like the Rotation Safety System in divers, Oris scores well for its established role in aviation watches, akin to Breitling's historical contributions.
**Rarity Metric (3.2/10.0)** - As a widely available model with an MSRP around $1,800 and higher production volumes, the BC3 lacks exclusivity, similar to common Omega Speedmaster variants.
**Material Metric (7.0/10.0)** - The stainless steel case with sapphire crystal and brushed finishing provides durable, high-quality construction, on par with mid-tier divers like the Seiko Prospex.
**Movement Metric (6.5/10.0)** - The reliable Sellita-based automatic caliber offers decent finishing and performance for daily use, benchmarking against entry-luxury movements like those in Tag Heuer Carrera models.
**Complications Metric (4.5/10.0)** - Featuring a simple day-date display, it provides basic utility without advanced features, comparable to Hamilton Khaki Field watches.
**Functions Metric (5.8/10.0)** - With luminous hands, 100m water resistance, and quick-adjust crown, it covers essential pilot functions effectively, similar to Sinn 104 models.
**Dials & Design Metric (7.2/10.0)** - The aviation-inspired dial with bold markers and ergonomic case offers a timeless yet functional aesthetic, echoing the design appeal of IWC Pilot watches.
**Versatility Metric (6.8/10.0)** - Suitable for casual, office, or light adventure wear thanks to its balanced size and strap options, it versatile like a Tudor Black Bay but not for formal occasions.
## Total Performance Score (TPS): 7.1
## WM Collector Grade: B
## Performance Insights: Strong in brand prestige and design versatility but weaker in rarity and complications, offering good value above its implied price of around $1,200 based on performance metrics.
## TPS Interpretation: Good Value: The watch delivers solid Swiss reliability and aviation style that punches above its price point for everyday enthusiasts.
